Q : What should I wear?

A : We recommend the following for the Traditional Yearbook style, head and shoulders portraits:

FEMALES

Wear long sleeved, dark, solid colored tops; the best colors are navy blue, black and dark gray. Light colors will make you look heavy. Round neck or v-neck tops work very well in portraits; avoid turtleneck sweaters. We have black Eddie Bauer knit shirts available at the studio for you to wear if you don't have time to shop! Jeans on the bottom are fine.

MALES

A dark suit or sport coat with a neatly pressed shirt and tie will look best. Be sure your shirt is suited for a tie and that it fits properly around your neck. A dress shirt and tie without a jacket shows wrinkles in shirts. We have various sized sports coats in navy blue if you don't have one. If you prefer a shirt and tie only, we recommend a dark color such as navy blue or gray. For a less formal look, long sleeved, dark solid tops work best in navy blue, black or dark gray.

WHAT SHOULDN'T I WEAR?

Bare shoulders or tops with "spaghetti straps" often make you look heavier, and take the eye away from your face.

Stripes, plaids, checks and bold prints also draw the eye away from the face and do not photograph well.

WE RECOMMEND THE FOLLOWING FOR INFORMAL/CASUAL SESSIONS:

To capture the "true you" in your portrait, feel free to bring along your sports uniforms and gear, a musical instrument or even your hobby supplies. Make your portrait a true reflection of you!

Bring in a variety of long sleeved light and dark colored tops.

Light: Peach, pink, light blue, white.

Dark: Maroon, gray, green and brown. Bright: Red, blue, yellow and orange. Any of these color tops work well with a variety of our sets.

Bring in both light and dark jeans; shorts and short skirts do not photograph well.

An evening gown from a prom, wedding or dinner dance can give a different look; please remember to bring any accessories for your gown. Shoes are generally not important except for formal wear portraits.

Be sure to wear the proper undergarments so dark colors don't show through light shirts.

Bring more clothes than you think you'll need in various color choices so we can choose the best. If you're not sure what to bring, PLEASE give the studio a call we'll be glad to assist you.
